Types of Burn Bans & Restrictions

Stage 1 Burn Ban

The following acts are PROHIBITED on ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY during a declared Stage 1 Burn Ban:

  1. Building, maintaining, attending or using open burning or an open fire as defined in Section 5.f. of this ordinance.
  2. Target and recreational shooting, except on private property when the owner or lessee
  3. of such private property, or the owner or lessee's employee is present and supervising.
  4. Blasting, or other activities, which generate flame or flammable material.
  5. Outdoor hot work without a pressurized water system or at least a 7lb ABC or 2 ½
  6. gallon pressurized or equivalent fire extinguisher, and large size pointed shovel readily
  7. available for quick use.
  8. Fireworks and model rocketry.
  9. Smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or
  10. while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all
  11. flammable materials.
  12. Operating a chain saw without a pressurized water system or at least a 7lb ABC or 2 ½
  13. gallon pressurized or equivalent fire extinguisher, and large size pointed shovel readily
  14. available for quick use.

Stage 2 Burn Ban ​

The following acts are PROHIBITED on ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY during a declared Stage 2 Burn Ban:

  1. Building, maintaining, attending or using open burning or an open fire as defined in Section 5.f. of this ordinance.
  2. Target and recreational shooting, except at County-approved shooting ranges.​
  3. Building, maintaining, attending or using any of the following fires:
  • Fires in wood and/or charcoal fired grills or smokers designed for cooking;
  • Fires in approved portable exterior fireplaces;
  • Fires in approved stationary exterior fireplaces.
